Derrick Wagner

First Touch Ministry Leader
 
Derrick Wagner was born near Detroit, Michigan and also lived in Scottsdale, Arizona. While in high school, he worked as a sandwich and pizza cook. At age 16, he was promoted to Asst. Manager. He volunteered at Chaparral High School’s Performing Arts Center where he worked on multiple theatre productions. Derrick briefly studied Computer Programming before enlisting in the U.S. Navy.
 
He served most of his 26 year naval career here in San Diego County, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Derrick married Sandra in 1992. In 1994, they bought their condo in Mira Mesa and were simultaneously blessed with their son Nicholas. They have lived in Mira Mesa ever since.
 
While on active duty, Derrick earned his Bachelor’s of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University, Magna Cum Laude. In 2014, he earned his Master of Business Administration from Brandman University in with a certificate in Non-Profit Organizational Leadership.
 
Derrick is an avid auto enthusiast and likes to work with his hands. The Wagner’s are small business owners and have recently invested in a rental property. They like to camp and travel in their recreational vehicle and take their dogs Mitzie and Maggie wherever they go. In addition to managing the First Touch Ministry, Derrick is an active member of the Maintenance and Facilities Team at CMC.
